Dr. Sircar received her doctoral degree in Human Geography at Lund University, Sweden in 2017. Her thesis was titled Between the Highway and the Red Dirt Track: Subaltern urbanization and census towns in India’. Her research lies at the intersection of urban studies, agrarian studies, and postcolonial theory. With a prior training in history and development studies, Srilata combines a wide range of qualitative approaches and critical cartography in her methodological stance. She has also worked with curriculum development at the postgraduate level and with communicating academic research to policy-makers. Her work has been published in academic journals such as Geoforum and Singapore Journal of Tropical Geography, as well as on popular platforms such as The Hindu and Feminism in India.
